Quick Fix: Helping a Customer Save Her Printer

Quick Fix: Helping a Customer Save Her Printer

In the IT world, some devices often get overlooked — especially printers

While most IT consultants shy away from them, I make it a point to handle all types of tech: computers, printers, networking gear — you name it.

Recently, a customer reached out with a frustrating issue. Her printer had suddenly stopped working the day before. Despite her efforts — including resetting the cords — the printer wouldn’t even power on. To make things worse, other IT consultants in the area had turned her away, saying, in her words,“They don’t do printers.”

Luckily, I do. When it comes to a device that won’t power up, I know a couple of simple things to try first: swap out the power cord and plug it into a different outlet. Sure enough, one of these steps did the trick. With a new cord and a different outlet, the printer powered up like new.

From there, I connected her new MacBook to the printer, set up the scanning functions, and fine-tuned all the necessary configurations. The entire process took just about an hour.

Needless to say, the customer was relieved — she had been convinced that she needed to buy a brand-new printer. Thankfully, she called me before making that leap, and I was able to resolve all her issues quickly and efficiently.

So, the next time you're facing a frustrating IT issue — whether it's a printer or anything else — give me a call. Chances are, I’ll have it fixed in no time.
